Overview

Office & Workplace

This project brought together two existing office locations into one cohesive Cat A workspace within a modern central London building. The ambition was to create a headquarters that reflected the client’s forward-thinking ethos while supporting the practical needs of a growing team.

The result is a workspace that feels innovative yet grounded — industrial in character, but warm, refined and human-centred. Designed to balance science, wellbeing and sustainability, the space provides a clear and contemporary environment that supports both focus and connection.

Concept

The design language is rooted in a light industrial aesthetic, combining raw finishes and clean architectural lines with softer, natural elements to create balance and warmth. The palette was carefully developed to reflect the client’s identity as a sustainability-led business, while creating an atmosphere that feels calm, credible and enduring.

Soft greys, mineral whites and muted charcoals form the base of the scheme, complemented by warm oak, earthy neutrals and subtle moments of botanical colour. Brushed metals, textured plaster, microcement and exposed concrete bring clarity and structure, while natural finishes and tactile materials introduce a more restorative quality.

Space, Experience & Wellbeing

Developed from an earlier stage 0/1 strategy piece, the spatial planning was carefully considered to unify the floorplate and create a seamless flow around the central atrium. The layout avoids fragmentation, instead allowing teams and shared spaces to feel connected while still supporting a variety of working styles.

The workplace experience was designed around clarity, comfort and flexibility. Organised zones, purposeful lighting and transparent partitions create openness and ease of movement, while flexible spaces allow the office to adapt to different ways of working. Natural light, acoustic comfort, indoor planting and restorative areas all contribute to a calmer, healthier working environment.

Furniture and finishes reinforce this balance between performance and wellbeing. Modular ergonomic workstations support day-to-day function, while communal tables, soft seating and rounded forms soften the industrial framework and create more welcoming spaces for collaboration and pause.

Sustainability & Outcome

Sustainability and wellbeing were embedded throughout the design approach. Biophilic principles were incorporated through integrated planting and a strong connection to natural materials, while environmentally responsible sourcing helped reduce impact across the scheme. Reclaimed timber, recycled aluminium, recycled acoustic panels and low-VOC finishes were selected to align with the client’s values and long-term sustainability goals.

Employee wellbeing was equally central to the outcome, with dedicated spaces designed for movement, mindfulness and respite. Gender-neutral washrooms, a multi-faith room and a separate wellbeing room ensure the workplace supports a more inclusive and considered experience for everyone using it.

Together, these decisions shaped a headquarters that feels efficient, contemporary and future-facing — a workplace that reflects both innovation and responsibility in equal measure.

“A 24,000 sq ft London headquarters shaped around wellbeing, sustainability and scientific clarity, brought to life through a light industrial palette of raw and natural finishes.”
